The high school on the hill in Birmingham’s Southside is among the best in the nation, according to US News and World Report.
The publication placed Ramsay High School within the top 2,000 high schools in the nation. For frame of reference, there are more than 17,000 high schools in the 2024 rankings.
The Rams also rose within the rolls of local and state schools compared to last year. Ramsay is ranked eighth among schools in the Birmingham metropolitan area, compared to ninth in the 2023 edition. Among 296 secondary institutions in Alabama, Ramsay landed in the top 20, improving from 23 to 18.
The rankings are weighed primarily on college readiness as well as proficiency and performance on state assessments. The publication also considers performance of underserved students, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rate.
